First of all i wanted to do this post with nice graphics from the Sitemeter. However since they actualize the graphs i cant post them directly unless i saved them first and/or upload them or here or in the photobucket. But then this post would be even bigger & the graphs or pie charts not readable unless opened in a new window. After 9 months of the creation of this blog, I decided to have a better look to who are my viewers and from where.Dough the why in certain cases are a big mystery. In the beginning of this blog the visitors were mainly Portuguese, Dutch, very few Germans.Understandable fact, I'm living in Amsterdam, Holland, that reflects on my posts. Also but in minor quantity in Portuguese or about Portugal and Lisboa.Of course, initially, most of the friends being notified by email about new posts or changes in my blog, are from those 2 countries. So no big mystery there.Few months ago I noticed a increasing number of visitors from Brazil. Also no big mystery there, Search engines with Portuguese words can explain it.Recently, however i was surprised by the fact that visitors from Brazil(6% @ the present... and that because i cheated... explained ahead*) were increasing so fast that surpassed largely the Portuguese ones. The reason of this sudden increase when my posts are 70% to 80% in English and with no reference to Brazil is not so easy.* just sent a few emails to Portugal to test the theory, it worked... the percentage changed. ;-)(so in reality Brazilian visitors have a bigger percentage than the Portuguese because they're are not prompted by my now rarer email notifications)The decrease from the Portuguese (8% @ present) can be explained, maybe, for the fact that i more or less stopped sending emails notifying about new posts (hey dont wanna be put on a spam filter lol. rss or atom syndication was created for something after all) . And as we say in Portugal "Away from sight away from the heart", people might start forgetting about me, the heavy but normal price, in 5 years (actually 6 years now) i just went back twice and shortly.(don't you guys even think about it... I promise i'll go there for an extended visit soon... yeah i know you guys heard that one before).Returning to the point. The occasional visitor from other countries is not a mystery, its a public blog. Anyone can stumble on it. So something like 4% Spanish visitors(6th place) is not surprising.Netherlands has the second place with 25%.The Us is at the moment the 3rd with 11 % visitors (shame on you Portugal... in 4th place with 8%) and Brazil 5th (6%)... not forgetting again i cheated with emails the last days. The increase of dutch visitors also no biggie, search engines, and i'm meeting more and more people here.But....started to notice some, occasional at first, visitors from china. But in recent weeks China overpassed the Netherlands (25%@ present). Why?No idea. But the daily quota of Chinese visitors is on the increase(28% @ the present). Being the country with the biggest number of visitors to my blog at the moment. (And once again not forgetting i sent some emails to Portuguese and to Dutch... the percentage would've been bigger)Thanks the Buddha the main language from the pc of my visitors is "still" 41% English, followed Chinese as second language used(29% with Taiwan & Hong Kong), being Portuguese (from Portugal and Brazil together) responsible for only 14%Not surprised that the 4% Spanish have a equal percentage in language.Only 3% of the Dutch, with the second place and 25% of visitors have their pc in dutch. Not surprising but that much i wasn't expecting.(If this continues like this i'll ask to trade my dutch course for a Chinese one or for some form of Arabic... something tells me it would be much more useful and a good investment). The numbers by continents areEurope: 48%Asia: 31%North America: 11%South America: 8%unknown: 2%By Country:China 28%Netherlands 25%US 11%Portugal 8%Brazil 6%Spain 4%U.K. 2% (not completely true*)By Language: English 41%Chinese 29%Portuguese 14% (Doesn't mean much, some portuguese have the pc in English... i had mine, for a while)Spanish 4%Dutch 3%By Browser:Internet explorer (5,6&7): 69% (windows xp has quota of 94% of visitors)Firefox: 28% (but Firefox can appear as IE)Safari: 2%Opera: 1%Till recently had a average visitors per day of 8 (even not posting regularly), Now its 15 average. yesterday more than 18 visitors(not average). A few jumps, don't mean much. But, more or less, 2 days ago, had surprisingly more than 50 visitors in the same day... why? No idea.*I know that some of the info or values from Sitemeter are not completely true. For instance have a friend that visits my blog from his university network and dough he is in Amsterdam it shows as he was in Cambridge U.K. But i learned to recognize that network(uu.net) and i think its more of a exception that doesn't invalidate all the rest of the info.Anyway its interesting (ok in a very geeky way) the info that one can obtain.Should i start posting in other languages? Since English is loosing the advantage.Dutch no need.More in Portuguese? or maybe less?Maybe a little in Spanish... cause of South America? Well... and US too.In Hindu? cant... but maybe i can include some posts about Goa, Damão & Diu ;-)Sorry but in Chinese i cant, unfortunately. And the Portuguese or people that spoke Portuguese in Macau left.Ps: To all visitors, wherever in the world & to the blogging community in particular... (for obvious reasons & based on past experiences completely anonymous comments are no longer available)Please feel free to make comments, suggestions or just leave your opinion on the posts. (Even if you think its absolute crap lol)That goes double or triple to my Portuguese, and also Brazilian visitors. Some feedback will justify and maybe increase the quantity of posts in Portuguese. (Meus queridos amigos o 4º e 5º lugar da lista e sem feedback nenhum, não justifica os 20% a 30% de posts em Português).
