The Prime Minister, António Costa, once again called for a union of all parties, social partners and municipalities in response to the construction of the recovery plan, which will allow to respond to the three challenges that the country faces: “controlling the pandemic , recover Portugal, take care of the future ”, warning that one cannot return to February.

“This is surely the biggest crisis that any of us had to face. In a context full of uncertainties, it is true that the duration of the pandemic is still uncertain, but on the other hand, it seems certain the determination of all Portuguese to preserve in their fight on the road to recovery. This is the moment when, with all our energy, we have to focus on facing and overcoming the triple challenge that lies ahead: controlling the pandemic, recovering Portugal, taking care of the future ”, said the Chief Executive, this Wednesday , in the speech that started the debate in Parliament on the “Strategic Vision for the 2020-2030 Economic and Social Recovery Plan”.

António Costa stressed that "we have to be more demanding, looking in the medium and long term", stressing that "the recovery cannot mean where we were in February this year, the recovery should allow us to accelerate the future".

"We have to get out of this stronger crisis, with more efficient public services, more capitalized and productive companies, with more qualified jobs and better salaries, so it is essential to have a strategic vision with a lasting horizon", he said, in an appeal to "all political forces ”, social partners, autonomous regions and local authorities to“ make their contribution, because overcoming this crisis is a goal that should unite us all ”.

The Prime Minister again stressed that "the work developed by Professor António Costa Silva offers us in its axes a solid and ambitious basis to face the challenge of recovery, with eyes set on the future".

"It is up to us to realize this vision, ensuring stability in structural options and consistency between successive policy instruments that we will have to adopt over the decade," he said.
