Chega will vote against the Supplementary Budget, which is this Wednesday voted in general in the Assembly of the Republic. The resigning president and sole deputy of Chega, André Ventura, considers that the budget proposal is “absolutely unrealistic” and does not present “any solid economic recovery strategy” nor “the support that the economy, companies and families need”.

“Chega will vote against the Supplementary Budget presented by the Government. This budget, in addition to being absolutely unrealistic in the numbers - just look at the forecasts of the public finance council - is lacking in the support that the economy, companies and families need ”, reads in a statement issued by Chega, about voting in general Supplementary Budget.

André Ventura's party also considers that the budget proposal presented by the Government has no proposals that guarantee a solid recovery of the economy and “undoubtedly opens the door to the increase in taxes in the next State Budget”. “It is a little serious budget. Chega cannot agree with that ”, he stresses.

"We will live up to this position: this Supplementary Budget does not serve the purpose of saving the Portuguese economy in times of recession, on the contrary, it pushes it to one of the worst in its history", defends Chega.

The vote against Enough to Supplementary Budget should not, however, influence the approval of the budget proposal in general and, consequently, the passage to the discussion in the specialty. This is because the Left Bloc (BE) and the Communist Party (PCP) have already admitted to making the document feasible in this first phase and the Social Democratic Party (PSD) also announced that it will abstain from voting.

Chega also reveals “strangeness” with the PSD's abstention and making the State Budget feasible and says that this “shows without a doubt that Chega is the only opposition to the right”.

On the right, the CDS-PP says that it also does not see itself in the budget proposal presented by the Government, but has not yet clarified how it will vote. Abstention is, however, a hypothesis on the table. The same is true of the Liberal Initiative, which despite having criticized the Supplementary Budget, kept the final decision for debate.

The PAN and the ENP have also not yet clarified the vote on the Supplementary Budget. It should be noted, however, that, shortly after the presentation of the Supplementary Budget, the ENP was "satisfied" with "some of the measures and concerns that the Greens were transmitting at the meetings were welcomed" by the Government.

As of Thursday, the specialty phase should start, with hearings of State Secretaries from the Ministry of Health, and, the next day, with Secretaries of State from the Ministry of Labor, Solidarity and Social Security. Parties until the 24th to submit proposals for changes in the specialty. On June 30 and July 1, specialty voting takes place, and the global vote is scheduled for July 3.
