The coordinator of the Left Block, Catarina Martins, stressed this Tuesday that Portugal will need a kind of “social bazooka”, which can be targeted at workers and, in that sense, considered that there is a need for a State Budget that responds to the crisis.
“The country needs a State Budget capable of responding to the crisis. We are going to need a social bazooka, it is not enough to say that there is European bazooka ”, stressed Catarina Martins to journalists.
In an intervention aimed mainly at workers, the coordinator of the blockers underlined that, in some public supports such as the layoff, “there is public support for the dismissals of precarious workers”.
The Bloco de Esquerda defends “that companies should be asked for compensation so that public support is not a financing for dismissal but a guarantee of employment and salary”.
