Nelson de Souza says that the Portuguese should not be surprised by the fact that the Government may take new measures on a daily basis to combat the coronavirus pandemic. The Planning Minister was present at the conference on 'Management in the Post-Covid - Examples and Inspiring Trends' organized by the Lisbon University Institute (ISCTE) this Wednesday, November 11th.

“We know that we are living in difficult times, of uncertainty and even of anguish due to the fact that we do not know how to draw the future that awaits us. This pandemic crisis leads us to a situation in which we have both high risk and great uncertainty, and both at the same time lead us to a situation of difficult management ”, said Nelson de Souza.

As such, the Planning Minister stressed that “no wonder that every day we have to make new decisions. Maybe even different decisions ”. Therefore, he believes that until the uncertainty is resolved and this context is not anticipated, “what we have to do is to be attentive to the signs and always measure what is going on, to permanently adjust our policies, strategies and objectives” .

Nelson de Souza also addressed the conclusion of the final agreement between Parliament and the European Council concluded on Monday, on the multiannual financial framework. “It is an absolutely necessary tool to have the process of making European funds available to everyone”.

The Minister of Planning assumed that this is a step that "will allow greater security in what we are demanding as absolutely urgent that it is done that it is during the first quarter that European Union funds begin to be made available".
