Fenadegas welcomes the new measures envisaged by the Government for the wine sector, in particular the allocation of ten million euros for distillation and crisis storage.

“Following the meeting of the Minister of Agriculture, Maria do Céu Albuquerque, with the consultative councils of the Instituto da Vinha e do Vinho (IVV) and the Instituto do Vinho do Douro e Porto (IVDP), which had as its objective the impact of Covid-19 pandemic in the wine sector, some measures were presented that Fenadegas has always advocated since the first hour and which we hope can contribute to minimize the negative effects ”, underlines a statement from this institution.

According to this institution, “in addition to all the exceptional measures that were presented during the periods of state of emergency that prevailed in the country, Maria do Céu Albuquerque said that 10 million euros from the National Support Plan (PNA), dedicated to wine sector, will be applied in measures to minimize the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, namely in distillation and crisis storage ”.

“This value does not compromise the programs already underway, but reinforces the response to an 'imperative need to create conditions to minimize losses in this sector'”, reinforces Fenadegas, noting that “it is necessary to wait for the entire definition of these measures, namely prices, volumes, dates ”.

“In addition, other measures were presented within the National Support Plan and, as stated, they should accompany those that follow with an economic recovery, namely with the reopening of the Canal Horeca [Hotelaria, Restauração, Cafetaria]”, concludes the statement in question.
