The Left Bloc asked the Government for the full version of the audit to Novo Banco on Tuesday through a request addressed to the chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee, Filipe Neto Brandão

"Under the rules and constitutional provisions, the Left Bloc Parliamentary Group requires, as a matter of urgency, the sending of the special audit report to Novo Banco in its entirety to the Assembly of the Republic, including the list of codified entities", read in the document.

In the text signed by Congresswoman Mariana Mortágua, Bloco de Esquerda also asks for “immediate public disclosure of the special audit report to Novo Banco, in its current version”.

“The report of the special audit to Novo Banco is fundamental for understanding the losses that have led to large injections of public capital in the former Banco Espírito Santo (BES)”, guarantees the Bloco de Esquerda, considering that the deputies must “have access to all relevant information, but also transparency in the process ”.

“On the one hand, the report was purged of important information regarding the entities involved in the credit operations of BES and Novo Banco. On the other hand, and although it does not contain names or other sensitive information, its classification as “confidential” prevents its disclosure, without justification, ”points out the Bloco de Esquerda.

The absence of information was highlighted, in statements to journalists at the Assembly of the Republic, by Mariana Mortágua on Tuesday, guaranteeing that the audit “does not have an answer, at this moment, for the private management of Novo Banco, in which the losses are paid with state money ”.

“Parliament still does not know, when analyzing credit operations carried out by BES and Ricardo Salgado, who were the customers who benefited from these credit conditions”, said Mariana Mortágua.

Despite this lack of data, it was possible for the deputy of the Bloco de Esquerda to conclude that “the deal was ruinous from beginning to end, [the audit] confirms that bad political decisions were taken, obviously confirms the responsibility of the previous management of BES and Ricardo Salty".

In the early hours of Tuesday, Deloitte released the audit it was carrying out on the management acts at BES and Novo Banco, which covers a period of 18 years. In the document sent to the Public Ministry, it is revealed that between August 4, 2014 and December 31, 2018 the bank lost 4.042 million euros in 283 transactions.
