PS parliamentary group wants urgent hearing of TAP administration in Parliament

The Parliamentary Group of the PS - Socialist Party has just requested an “urgent hearing” of the presidents of the board of directors and of the executive committee of TAP in the Assembly of the Republic regarding the strategy released yesterday, May 26, on the flight strategy of national airline for the coming months.

If the request was approved in the Assembly of the Republic, Miguel Frasquilho, chairman of the board of directors of TAP, and Antonoaldo Neves, chairman of the executive committee of the national air carrier, will explain to the deputies in the coming weeks the plan for the resumption of flights by the company , which is being widely contested.

The PS Parliamentary Group requested today the urgent hearing of the presidents of the board of directors and of the executive committee of TAP in order to “explain well to the Portuguese the company's criteria and strategy for the coming months, at a time when they are at stake support to the national carrier ”.

According to the socialist parliamentary group, the issue is “the publication of TAP's route plan for the next two months, marked by a large disproportion of flights originating in Lisbon in relation to the operation of minimum services from Porto and Faro” .

This is one of the issues raised in the application signed by PS deputies Carlos Pereira, Hugo Costa, Hugo Carvalho, Joaquim Barreto, Jorge Gomes, Joana Lima, José Manuel Carpinteira, Francisco Rocha and Luís Graça.

These parliamentarians recall that the list of routes released for the last 15 days of May and for the next months of June and July “implies 18 weekly calls for the last 15 days of May, 27 weekly calls in June and 247 weekly calls in July, noting that from Porto no flights are scheduled for the last 15 days of May and only two weekly flights are scheduled in June (Porto-Funchal) and seven weekly flights in July (Porto-Paris - 3; Porto-Luxembourg - 2; Porto-Funchal - 2) ”.

"It appears that from Faro there is not a single flight, in the route plan, for this period considered", note the socialist deputies.

In the request of the Socialist Party's Parliamentary Group, it is also recalled that “the company's Strategic Plan has as a basic principle the air connections that ensure the country's territoriality, and that there are regions of the country that also need tourism to recover from the economic crisis. due to the pandemic, as is the case in the North and South regions ”.
